Mobile, Alabama is beautiful this time of year, but the heat and hurricane
season are not far away.
I turn 65 Monday and am happy to be here and pretty healthy. Three of our
kids and three of our grandkids are close by so we are very fortunate to be
able to have them as a regular part of our day to day lives.

I am a member of a small church that is very active in ministry. Years ago,
someone told me I would be a “Matriarch” in the church that they were born
not made. I was rather offended as I recall as Isaw the ones in my church
as being opposed to any and all change. I guess I have become a Matriarch
though hopefully not one opposed to change. I seem to be forever saying,
“have we really thought this through?”

I still am licensed as worship leader, Chalice bearer, and lay Eucharistic
visitor. I occasionally read lessons or do prayers. Where I am pulled by
necessity at the moment is back to exploring scripture and church with the
little ones. It is where our need is.

We are still enjoying our travels and are off to Italy this Fall.
