[Magdalen] this morning’s sermon

We’ve got a fine rector
who’s not always the most brilliant preacher
(and he’d say so himself)
BUTT
this morning he asked one of the choir members
to sing the Veni Sancti Spiritus
then he read selected lines
translated each into English
and glossed a bit.

And boy did that work!
Simple, informative, prayerful & orthodox.

There are some low church folks who’ll probably complain about Latin in
church
(my mother would be among them)
but he set my hair on fire.
Which, when you think about it, is just right for Pentecost.
