>By happenstance, I played for LMS at 9:00 am this morning. They took the Mark 9:14-29 ( I didn't hear the Gospel, I play for the next service in the mOravian church, but their organist didn't show up; so I volunteered to finish the service) At our service we used Mark 8: 34-38. I have yet to figure out the system of selecting the pericopes in the MOravian Church. They are a liturgical church in communion with the Episcopal, ELCA and Presbyterian usa and a few others. I haven't checked out the Roman lectionary on a regular basis in several year. The companion to the Moravian Hymnal says they used the Revised Common Lectionary with adaptations (the custom of their own lessons for every day of Holy Week which is basically the Passion Narrative spread over 8 days). Some Sunday the Gospel appears to have been picked by the preacher.. We have our unique feast days (Solemnities) So the Martyrdom of Jan Hus, Moravian Pentecost, and Christ the Chief Elder of the Church take precedence over the Sunday lessons.
