I do admire our rector's ability to skate between the furrows.
There are a few members of the congregation whose politics don't match the
rest of us and he says what he needs to say without provoking them.

I'm remembering the week after the ordination of the Philadelphia Eleven.
The Boston Globe called our church, which was then on record as being
opposed to women's ordination. The reporter asked what the subject of
Sunday's sermon would be.
"I'll be preaching on the Propers, of course," the assistant rector replied.

No Google back then. I wonder what the reporter thought the Propers were.
