Yes, I remember well Fr. Gerald White.  I lived in a room in the basementof Saint Francis House (UW-Wisconsin Chapel) for a couple of years.  Iearned my room by initially cleaning the latrines of the Chapel and Center, andeventually advanced to cleaning the Chapel itself.  White+ was a great guy, andvery personable.  I earned my board at the nearby Methodist Center working intheir cafeteria.
The housemother, who had an apartment on the third floor, was Mrs. Yvonne Otto,widow of a Canadian priest.  She was  a Quebecois, and a very colorful character.Those were the days!  I should write a book.
