I'm watching the series, "Babylon 5" for about the fifth time.

This science fiction series dates originally from the 1980's andI did not watch it then.  In the 1990's the series was revived andplayed on one of the cable channels five nights a week.  I washooked.

There has subsequently been a long hiatus, at leastlocally, until about three months ago when episodes startedappearing four nights a week either with single or double installments. That showing concluded and I am now watching it all over again onthe cable "Comet" Channel.  I suppose common sense will have mepurchase the series on discs and play the series at my leisure..

This series by J. Michael Stracynski is very complicated and has astrong spiritual bent but with only tangential Christian references. For example, one of the main characters is shoved into a darkzone to meditate on the plainsong chant for the Third Mass ofChristmas Day.  The main character "dies" and then "returns fromthe dead."  He eventually is bodily assumed "beyond the edge ofthe galaxy" by friendly aliens. It's obvious Stracynski was raised aRoman Catholic.

Because the plot is so complicated and there is so much to savor, the series has a large, loyal following.  I'm in fact getting to the pointwhere I need my daily "fix" of Babylon 5 or I go into withdrawal.
