"Blocking" a number means making an entry in a database noting that
that number should not ring through.
There are 2 places where the call can be blocked.
1. In your phone. The call reaches your phone but does not ring or
connect.
2. At your phone service provider. The call is not sent to your phone.
#2, blocking at the service provider, is much more effective but more
tedious to enter. You can't just push a button on your phone. The
problem with #1 is that most junk callers call from fake numbers, and by
the time the call reaches your phone, the phone cannot tell where it is
really coming from, only where it is pretending to come from.
