[Magdalen] Solemn Evensong and Benediction

Thank you, Marion - that is very kind of you.

The Cathedral is fortunate in our Provost (the Scottish designation for what would elsewhere be the Dean), Isaac Poobalan. He is a really special man, of enormous kindness and spirituality. He was born in India, worked for a while in the Middle East, then England, then Scotland. When I arrived in Aberdeen he was not yet in the Cathedral, but was my Chaplain in my university. At my first encounter with him he was holding a prayer meeting with students at which he sang/intoned prayers in the Christian, Jewish and Islamic traditions.

We are also really fortunate in our Director of Music, who was once the organist in St George's (Anglican) Church in Paris. He has given a number of concerts in Notre Dame Cathedral. He is an amazing virtuoso musician, who has kept the music alive during the lockdown.

The service will be livestreamed, but will also be available afterwards.

Ferdinand

I will certainly be there. St. Andrew's is my No. 1 choice these days.
