[Magdalen] Missing the pub too...

I'm still out here, reading everything. I'm rather distracted at this time
because our priest informed us at our annual vestry on Feb 23 that he is
off to pursue his vocation to the monastic life. At St. Gregory's Abbey,
Three Rivers, Michigan. His last Sunday is Low Sunday, April 19. I have
been his warden for the last three years, a strange relationship, given his
introversion which certainly coloured our dealings, but I will miss him
like mad. "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone" is a good
expression of our/my feelings. As Susan Hutchison of blessed memory told
me before I met him, he is a genuine Anglo-Catholic, and his time among us
has coloured all our doings. I fear we will sink back into some low
church, possibly broad church state, and then what will I do. I have a
year now of life with a Priest-in-charge, as yet to be assigned by our area
bishop (and believe me the pickings are poor!). We have no deputies and
the other warden has a business and is busy with local theatrics. Oh well.

All that and my gimpy hip, too.

Marion, a pilgrim
