Of your mercy, please pray for the soul of Bob Ringwald, late jazz pianist and father of a famous Molly. Went to his reward a week ago today. I only just now caught wind. I think we were on opposite sides of the political fence, but I liked him. The one time I met him, at a festival, I had the privilege of serving as a temporary human white cane. He entered the venue led by his trumpet player, I introduced myself, we began exchanging pleasantries, trumpet player went about his setting-up business, Bob clamped his right hand on my left shoulder, and said, "Piano, young man!" Later, after the set, I resumed our chat while at the piano he gathered himself together to leave, he leaned down from the stage, re-clamped a paw on a shoulder (this time, each the opposite), and WHUMP!!!, down he came, landing on the floor next me, and Mike the Cane led him out and onward. Of such are very tiny memories, and moderately drawn-out Magdalen posts, made.
Above is a link to the San Jose Mercury news, and below is what I posted a little bit ago to the Dixieland Jazz Mailing List.
Thanks for bearing with me. I'm becoming more and more the sentimental old fool I always knew I would. Just didn't expect it so soon.
Etc, yada yada.

Subject: The List; was Bob Ringwald.
Not too surprising, but OH so sad, news. I met Bob only once in person, but had the privilege some years ago, some might recall, of making contact with Molly's husband shortly after Bob's mid-air stroke in order to bring timely info to the group. Upon his List reappearance, I emailed him regarding a few questions that were fluttering around the list one morning, and he immediately replied "Call me.", and included his number. I did, and a nice chat was had.
My memory tells me he announced not long after St Peter's (Lovric's) death, that Islandnet.com intended to continue hosting the list free of charge in his honor. Here's hoping Bob's shuffling off this plane of existence's Stage Right, won't provide any undue hitches.
Requiescat in pace, dear Bob; in pace indeed. Play a bawdy tune or two every now and then for us that remain, if you'd be so kind,
Etc,
M J Logsdon, Rev (semi-retired, wholly concerned).
