Setting limits with children should end when they become adults.
Usually.
This one sounds like he just threw his rattle on the floor and is watching
to see if you'll pick it up and return it to him.
So a big NO on this. You have responsibilities to guard your own health and
the health of parishoners.
Unless you're intent on becoming the pelican who shreds its own body to
feed its young.
