[Magdalen] Prayer Request--horrific event

Last Saturday night as we were driving home from doing a gem show my
daughter called to tell me there was an ambulance and two sheriff SUVs in
the driveway of the house next door to hers (I own the house and used to
live there with my late ex; after he died I offered it to her and her
family so I wouldn't have to sell it). We knew the neighbors and after some
discussion thought maybe it was the husband, since he'd had bypass surgery
about 20 years ago and wasn't in good health.

Sunday morning my phone went off in church because I'd forgotten to silence
it. (*oops* blushing*) I silenced it immediately but a text followed right
on the heels of the call to tell me that no, it wasn't him. He had MURDERED
his wife--shot her, then called 911 to tell them, and surrendered to the
cops without incident when they showed up. He has been charged with murder
one and at his arraignment hearing was denied bond.

Please pray for the eternal rest of Mickey Barbeley, one of the sweetest,
kindest souls I have ever known. Everyone in the neighborhood loved her.
She was kind to people and to all creatures great and small. She taught at
the local community college where her students adored her. I can't pray for
Charles. I'm too angry. I never liked him but I never thought he'd do
something like that.
