Remember when the Diocese of South Carolina came apart in 2012 -
simultaneously with several others in TEC...and all the actions that led up
to that schism? From the early aughts (Chapman Memo 2003, etc.) through
the 2012 split and the years following when DoSC recovered? Magdalen and
friends here from across TEC and some in the Anglican communion throughout
the world were exceedingly supportive of me and those in other dioceses
that also experienced schism. I cannot adequately describe the gratitude I
felt/still feel for the support I received from Magdalen members. Judy,
Renee, Lynn, Ann, Marilyn...and all others. The diocese is in good shape,
healthy, thriving, exceptionally well led by Bp. Ruth Woodliff-Stanley. My
parish, Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Summerville, SC, is
thriving. We have grown lots since the early days of 35 'continuing
Episcopalians/ in these parts of SC. Good Shepherd was gifted land in
Summerville and we are currently considering the church we will build on
that property. Whoohoo! Anyway, this action by Executive Council will
allow the Diocese of SC to continue to grow our membership beyond the
schism. Excellent news!
