Our listbro Roger Stokes writes "Some of us were unsubscribed from that list 
because Charles, the  list-owner (may he rest in peace) did not approve of 
our views."

I had forgotten about that!  So St Sam's was not completely unmonitored, but 
IIRC you never were sure what was going to set Charles off.

Roger also (correctly) identified my would-be "kinder/gentler" list as St 
Bede's.
