[Magdalen] USA folks doing business trips in Canada?

Well, long ago when I made an independent business trip to Canada, I was 
indeed taken aside and questioned. They basically didn't want me working in 
Canada, when presumably Canadian citizens should be getting the work. All 
countries do this. So I told them that I hadn't been promised pay (true - 
although I certainly expected to get paid), and they let me through.

Scott, if your going on business for HP, this is *their* problem, not yours. 
Let them take care of it.

Scott,

Why do you need to get work authorization?  The page following says you'd
only need something special if you otherwise needed a visa for Canada
(which you don't as a U.S. citizen).
