David, that falls into the class of Good Things, as for many years it would
have gone the other way. And Tennessee, which has had several years of very
sad football teams, beat up on Kentucky and needs only one more victory to
be considered for a bowl bid, although such has entirely lost its meaning
since there is such a proliferation of "bowl games" these days.

OTOH, in the world of women's basketball, my Lady Vols have begun the
season with 4 players serving suspensions and have achieved crushing
victories without them, an exhibition over neighboring Carson-Newman and a
stomping of Penn, in which the star was a heretofore little-seen bench
player who had 29 points in the first game and 24 in the second. And my
adopted James Madison ladies beat UCLA(!) and then turned around and
stomped St. Bonaventure and are feeling pretty frisky themselves. It looks
like an interesting season.
