On the subject of Advent Calendars, one item that I didn't buy
when I lived in Germany was the traditional German wooden Advent
calendar.  This consists, usually, of a facade of a half-timbered 
German house with windows that open for the appropriate Sunday
in Advent.
 
They were finely done, very elaborate, and quite handsome.  They  were
available even in the US P-X's.  
 
Now I cant find one to buy if I wanted to.   :-(
