We are charged for bags here in Vancouver. It's .05 for each one. The cashier asks if you want bags and how many. I mostly use cloth bags, but don't always have one handy when picking up something unplanned. People here get upset if the cashier puts one item in each bag -- fill 'em up! ;-)
