There have been several epidemics of the fungal disease that
mimics tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, in groups that have participated
in bat guano removal from church attics and steeples --- a true
"Bats in the Belfry" situation.
 
A fair proportion of USA Midwesterners test positive for endemic
