I did a week of respite care of my dad (with Parkinson's) to give Mom
a break. #1 rule was Dad does no driving. It was heartbreaking to see
him backing down the driveway and to have to run out and prevent him
driving. Felt like scolding a naughty kid. But he felt like he could
drive and wanted to have a little free time with Mom gone. Fortunately
he stopped when I asked him to, and when I told him Mom's top
directive was that he not drive, he looked down guiltily and shut off
the car and got out. I found a better hiding place for the keys.
