I think this is incorrect. In the end, the same side effects can be
caused by injectable as by oral steroids. Both orally and by injection
these are dose dependent.
Intralesional, intra-articular, etc., injections are usually smaller total
doses, and not repeated frequently, but even these do end up in
circulation.
For that matter also topical (creams and ointments) are absorbed
right through the skin, and the amount varies with concentration of
the salve, amount of skin covered, age of the person (kids have thinner
skin), amount of existing trauma where salves are applied, and whether
or not there is natural (skin to skin) or artificial (plastic wrap)
occlusion.
