One can cook on our woodstove, and we sometimes do. Saves electricity.

Let me point out that our original summer house in Maine had a iron coal
stove.
One had to get the coal going in the morning just to make a pot of coffee.

I'm sure most of us had parents or grandparents who learned to cook on a
coal
(or even wood!) burning stove. And I can tell you the food my mother
prepared on
the coal stove was excellent!

And in most of the world, such stoves are still common -- but in a rich
nation
like the US., we can debate glass tops vs electric vs gas burners and think
nothing of it, and even suggest the "wrong" choice indicates lack of
interest in
good cooking! Sheesh.

Cheers,
Jim
