One of my friends, Jazmyne, is part Native and does not know where to
begin. She knows her grandmother was at least half Native but it was not
talked about at that time, and she has no idea what tribe or where to begin
to find out anything about her ancestry. Both her parents are dead and none
of her siblings know anything either. She is understandably quite
frustrated! She'd love to know where she belongs. She's now partnered (for
complicated reasons she says she will never marry anyone) with a man who is
a member of one of the northern California tribes and who is very proud of
his heritage and she would like to know more about hers.
