Having lived on a spur of the AT for 17 years, I am guessing that when
the glamor of film associations wears off, that the party-ers will
lose steam.

Trail names have been a phenomenon almost since the beginning. Bob and
I had "Andromeda," "Artful Dodger" and "WooHoo" staying with us, as
well as a porch full of overnighters whose names I don't remember when
there was a gale-force rainstorm one night.

When Hurricane Sandy came through, we had about 20 hikers sleeping in
the church.

We loved the hikers, and I can only think of one bad apple.
