[Magdalen] Appalachian Trail

Walking the entire trail was always on my mother's and grandmother's bucket 
list -- and they did parts of it (and I've done a little bit in New Jersey and 
New York and the family did a couple of miles at Baxter State Park) but they 
never found the time to arrange to do the entire trail in one fell swoop. But 
they came pretty close in the late 1950s, but Aunt Cornelia (who would be our 
designated house sitter was already 80 years old and tending three of us (15, 
10, 6) plus cooking for my grandfather and Dad, plus grampa was blind -- and 
though she had done it in earlier years, she just thought an 3  months or more 
would be too much

Metro North has stations on two lines -- Appalachian Trail and Manitou and the 
AT distance between them can be done in a day.
