I read Lord of the Rings in the late Fifties and still have my hard 
cover editions from that time.  I lived in dread of the day that Disney 
might get his hands on it, but over all we were well served by Michael 
Jackson and, over all, the faithfulness to the trilogy. New Zealand was 
perfect!
