[Magdalen] Happy Christmas.

The Christmas party we always attend (God help us if we don't...we
tried one year and got flack) is postponed by a couple of hours
because the mother of one of the hosts died this morning (not
unexpected) in hospice. I've been trying to find out the deceased's
first name; I guess it's "Grandma." Anyway, these are stoic
German-Americans, and I really hope the party isn't going on as
planned just for something like "what would we do with all the food?"
But perhaps it will be comforting to have family gather rather than
stay away. It's her choice to just postpone slightly.

My partner and I have had our annual minor dispute about my looking
forward to solitude (for reading, recharging, some sleep) versus his
need to add events on to the ends of other events; after the distant
party, we drive home to host one of our own now with a friend who is
opting out of the earlier party. I guess I rolled my eyes a bit when I
heard about this add-on. Will try to keep my poorly timed and
irrational cravings at bay. More to talk about at therapy.
