You’ve been very lucky.

As a child who was born about 6 or 8 weeks premature, I was tiny (4lbs 4oz a month old fully clothed). Our doctor advised that I was potentially one who would have a bad reaction to vaccination, so my parents did not allow me to have any. Back in the 1950's, the childish diseases (Chicken Pox, measles, mumps, german measles, whooping cough etc) were all taken for granted as to be expected in children and I had them all. When the offer of TB, smallpox & polio vaccinations came, I had none of them (even though my uncle had polio and spent some time in an iron lung but had a full recovey). I have nevr regretted it and still when I am offered (free) flu vaccinations, I decline them. Many of you will no doubt think my attitude is foolish and perhaps not public-spirited, but I am not convinced. I have no plans for vaccination any time soon. I am fortunate enough to say that it is a very long time since I had anything more than a bad cold.
