[Magdalen] mythbusters

My father related that, once in college (or grad school?), some friend of
his flushed a hunk of sodium metal down the toilet. It did blow the toilet
up.

This was at MIT, which may explain things a bit.

I get a lot of laughs out of the show "Myth busters." I would actually
enjoy the show thoroughly even if it did not have Kari Bryan, to be
perfectly honest.

Recently, they did a whimsical show, debunking the "Simpsons."

On that show, one of the kids put acherry bomb in the toilet at school, and
the result was (in the cartoon) a geyser from all of the toilets.
Confirmed or busted?

Well, they went through a bunch of experimental scenarios, but the result
was busted. However, under certain conditions, they demonstrated that the
toilets would all be blown out of the floor.

You can't make this stuff up.
