Don't forget though that a cubic meter of snow isn't even close to a cubic

The weight of snow is still a force with which to be reckoned.
A now deceased friend and co-worker at the local VA had a home and
property at about 1,700 ft which was enough of an elevation locally
to be in the heavy snow zone.
The home, nestled among mature Eastern White Pines, was built with
one of those Mansard flat roofs popular in the 1960's in the USA, and it
was only a matter of time before disaster occurred. During a heavy
blizzard in the early 1990's, he awakened to a cold breeze in his bedroom,
only to discover that the flat roof had collapsed. It was a shock, but at
least
he was unhurt.
Flat roofs in snow zones are asking for trouble.
