[Magdalen] Brrrrr...

I accompanied Lee to St. Peter's, Lyndonville, where she did supply this AM.
Temperature, according to the car, bounced between 0 and -2 on the way over,
with lots of wind. Attendance was 12; 18 is more typical there. Went out to
lunch with two parishioners after. Right now it's -11 here and still quite
windy.
And, for all of you who. like me, might be getting a bit tired of the
continued unusually cold weather, I was recently reminded of this poem:

Keep warm, however you might do that!

Well, the service went on this morning after all, and 9 hardy souls ventured
out for it. The lay pastoral leader told me they usually have 6 or 7, maybe
10, if it's a special day. Reminded me of one of my old churches. The
church was cold, mainly because of the incredibly high wind, and I was glad
for the silk long underwear I had on.
One thing I did was to give them the opportunity to sing three hymns from
"Lift Every Voice." The priest who usually does the monthly Eucharist
doesn't like that hymnal and won't use it. So I picked three hymns they
knew and accompanied them on their new digital YAMAHA piano. I think they
were glad for that.
About halfway home, aided by the heater in my car, my hands and feet finally
thawed out!

This Southern girl is in Wilmington, DE. Our weather is similar to
Christopher's. This morning it was 7F actual, -15 wind chill. Right now
it is 12F, wind chis 0. We have been warm all day thanks to long underwear
and layering and the joy of Ginny and Barbie's wedding. To wonderful for
words to describe.
We head home tomorrow, leaving very early. Praying we will miss the snow
that is coming into DE, MD, DC, and VA. We want to get to NC by Noon.
