The Huguenots made themselves easy to loath by the majority
French with their penchant for iconoclasm.  They were experts at
smashing everything they didn't like, especially Catholic churches.
The medieval cathedral at Orleans, France was literally razed by
Huguenots, and there had to be built a completely new church in
the nineteenth century.
