Or as the reluctant oldtimers still missing the '28 tend to say when they read:

V: "Here Endeth the Lesson"
R: Thanks be to God.

Some would say the ideal is a full minute, or even the length of time it took to 
read the lesson.

But most congregations (and I daresay most clergy) want to get it over with as 
soon as possible.
