We had that in the house in Smithtown with the same problem. The pipes up to the 
radiator in my folk's bedroom went through the same (almost uninsulated) wall.

One New Years Eve the temperature dropped so low as to not only freeze the 
pipes, but the ones to the parent's room burst!

We called the plumber, and he showed up around 9 PM -- and had to get to the 
pipe from below, which meant he and his assistant were standing in (borrowed) 
bathing suits in the swimming pool working on the pipes above.

My mother took Polaroid pictures so their spouses would believe them when they 
said they were working in an 80 degree heated swimming pool fixing frozen/burst 
pipes when the temperature outside was well below zero!
