My first friend died (of ovarian cancer) in 2014. While I cringe at
most of what goes on on Facebook, I'd friended her so I could
get health updates. Her eldest daughter used June's facebook
page to announce her death in hospice. It was all well done.

June's birthday was on the Feast of the Epiphany. I can remember
my mother singing "It's June in January" to her at the dinner table.
And this year, on the first birthday after her death, there was an
outpouring of love and remembrance on her Facebook page. It
may have helped her daughters and granddaughters (that family
"ran to girls," as we used to say). It seems likely to have comforted
them, to know how many people miss her.
