It was open all the time, IIRC.

The first service in the current building was Christmas Eve, 1947. During that 
midnight service, Glendale suddenly was hit with an inch of snow! So, at least 
briefly (it melted my morning) people getting out of church at 1 AM enjoyed a 
white Christmas.

Not what would some expect in Glendale, California <g>.
