There has been some inquiry as to the definition of the word countertenor.

One definition -- totally inaccurate! -- is:

A person who is a tenor, who also has a real job

"Do you want fries with that?" asked the countertenor.


"Countertenor" is a reference to a defensive strategy utilized to foil
attacks involving tenors.

When the tenors came in too early and a minor third off-key, the conductor
launched trumpets and trombones in a countertenor strike.
