Since health care professionals are not linguists, and there is no  
requirement
for Greek or Latin for entrance into medical schools, all these terms,  
which
make up the bulk of scientific nomenclature, have been simply  Anglicized
as the above suggests.
 
Another tangential issue is the pronunciation of Latin and Greek  terms.
In this matter, I long since went with church (Italianate)  pronunciation
of Latin and Greek as though it were Latin.  It just makes it so much  more
consistent than the hodgepodge French system, English system, German
system, etc.
