I didn't notice at the time (more than fifty years ago!), because the
major confusions of sound and rhythm were so much more noticeable, but I
know for sure that we did have quite a lot of RC kids in the band. It
was a noticeably empty bandroom when a lot of them were excused from
school for a major "Retreat" (Protestant and Other kids were both
jealous and envious, even without knowing what the religious thing was
all about). Just stopping after "evil", even with an "amen", would
have been a lot less noticeable than the clash of words and rhythms
("those who trespass against us" has a _lot_ more syllables than
"debtors"! ;^)). I didn't know at the time about the RC form: it was a
surprise to me when I got into the Episcopal Church (AngloCat variety),
and learned to use and pray the Rosary with that form, some 25-30 years
later.
Anyway, our actual concert went okay! We may not have been great
musicians yet (although several of us did grow up to become
professionals, one way or another, including an opera singer, Mike
Riley), but we did at least manage to stay together, without major clunkers.
