[Magdalen] Latin Invasion?

When my brother, Paul, lived in Raleigh, NC USA during the 1970's
I recall the paucity of Roman Catholics in the Raleigh Diocese, listed
as around 2% of the population.

I was therefore surprised to discover that the Diocese is in the midst
of building a surprisingly large new cathedral listed as being 350'
in length and with a 160' dome. The cathedral is to seat 2,000.

When the plans are accessed, they reveal a surprisingly conservative
Latin Cross plan and a brick and stone building that is straight out of
18th century Italy. The plan seems to give faint lip service to Vatican-2.

In any case, there must be a lot more RC's in North Carolina than there
were in 1975.

I seem to recall that the designing architectural firm does specialize
in retro designs (?).
