It is joked that the South has lost 10% of its collective weight since
the closing of Blue Bell factories secondary to a listeria outbreak.
Some flavors have HFCS and guar gum, which I can usually taste in other
brands, but is undetectable in Blue Bell's. Their Mint Chocolate Chip
is the best I've tasted, and I am somewhat of a connoisseur having eaten
my weight (and paycheck) in the stuff when I was a 15-year-old employee
at Baskin-Robbins. I anxiously await Blue Bell's re-opening following
the injection of capital from Sid Bass, of Sid Richardson Co. wealth.

My favorite gelato is just about any flavor at Gelateria La Carraia, on
the Arno at the ?second? bridge west of the Ponte Vecchio, on the
oltrarno side, in Florence, though the rich dark chocolate is always an
easy choice.

Peace,
Jo <--facing another very hot day in Baton Rouge without any ice cream...
