I expect I can help with Duluth, MN and environs.

You do realize, I presume, that though it will be spring with (hopefully)
no snow, green lawns and some flowers, this is not equivalent to the
same dates in the UK or Continental Europe.

At the start there were be locations without any leafing out of trees,
especially in the more northerly locations. For example, when you leave
for home in early May, Chicago will just be on the edge of greening up.

In much of the USA Midwest, spring is an uncertain season when the
snow piles melt. Then there is the sudden arrival of heat and humidity
of the type that is expected in summer. All the spring flowering plants,
shrubs and trees burst into brief bloom to be replaced with summer
heat.

Now, I'm sure you'll have a good time, and see much, but at the same
time don't expect Europe in April and May.

David Strang.
