[Magdalen] Creeping UK-ism?

I consider these Britishisms/affectations. A team is not a
plural thing (nor is a flock, nor is an army). Let's hear it
for collective nouns!

Nineteenth and twentieth century American poetry contains
almost none of this nonsense.
