I can't tell you the number of US service men and women I've encountered 
who were let go (really forced out) of active duty status at 19 years, 11  
months.
 
There must be a quota for the number of military who can retire at
full pay (20 years).  The excluded are very disillusioned in my  experience,
as they well might be.  They have little to show for their many years  in
