There's an interesting use of the term/name, "Eastern Star," for
the ill-fated cruise ship that capsized in China.
It's easy to see how the Chinese owners of the vessel could choose this
name, for China is, after all, the East, and star is ubiquitous with
Communist countries.
The Chinese are, I suspect, totally oblivious to the Western use of this
term, which applies, generally, to THE Eastern Star and the story of
the Holy Nativity.
Then there is the Masonic organization for women, but that also points
to THE Eastern Star.
East meets West.
