Colombian Spanish really is the most generally understandable of the New
World Spanishes that I've heard. On the other hand, Cuban is some of the
worst. As one of my friends says, "They all sound like they're talking with
a mouthful of hot rice."
Very slurred and sloppy, IMNSHO. Nearly as bad as Brasileño, which the same
friend claims is NOT Portuguese but its own language, although when pressed
she'll admit it's about the same as American English. My dad used to say
that Portuguese sounded to him like drunk Spanish.
