Portuguese is the third most commonly-spoken language in Massachusetts, so I hear it all the time. Whenever I think I hear someone speaking French, then stop and think, no, it's Italian, turns out they're speaking Portuguese. Spanish (European Spanish) has all those rattles and gutterals left over from the Moors, but Portuguese is pure Romance. -M
