My former parish in TN has one. They are trained to spot unfamiliar faces,
and visitors are sought out after the service and given a small loaf of
bread and a welcome...very low-key, but very pleasant. I was welcomed back
with such on my last visit, too, having been absent from the parish for
some 18 years!
