Yes, I recall encountering this parish before.  Do they pronounce  the
"l" or is it silent?  I notice golfer Arnold Palmer pronounces the  "l".

In the hinterlands of the Upper Midwest, it's usually silent, and so  it's
Pam/Pom Sunday, the pam of the hand (classic redundancy: Are there
palms elsewhere - on the feet, or on the nose?), and Psam/Psom for
Psalm, saamon (rhymes with cat) for salmon, etc., etc.

However either silent or pronounced "l's" in such words are correct.
