It was great to see the PB. It was even greater to see our listsib Lynn! I
was also very happy to see +David Reed installed as our Bishop Coadjutor.
I was also pleased to hear Bp. Lillibridge's remarks regarding blessing of
same gender relationships. He basically recounted all the discussions and
preparations that have happened in our Diocese over the last 10+ years. He
also referenced the upcoming decision directed from the Supreme Court as
well as what will likely happen at GC this summer. And, the requests he has
received from three parishes here for permission to offer same gender
blessings.
So, I believe he was laying the foundation to approve those requests. If
and when he does, no one can say that they didn't know, that we didn't have
enough time, that we didn't discuss the theology behind why we are moving
ahead or that he was unduly pressured. Now, I know there will be some
parishes that will say those things...and more! But, most people that heard
is address felt the same way.
And, on a more personal level: it matters to me individually now and not
just as a principal. Yes, I've been seeing someone for a while now. Yes, I
asked him and he said yes. More info will be forthcoming. He's in the
process now of coming out to his family and preparing them (hopefully) to
move forward with us!
Peace, Rick
P.S. Yes, Malcolm had given his consent already!
